It gives the opportunity to have a partnership between a local institution and the United States to meet people, learn and exchange ideas and have free public access to information resources, magazines, books, documents, DVDs and CDs. The American Corner has presence in nearly 84 countries around the world. There are corners in Africa, Europe, Middle East, East Asia Pacific, Latin America and Central America.
What is the American Corner mission?
The mission of each American Corner is to be a partner in promoting mutual understanding between the United States and different countries.
How many American Corners are in Chile?
In Chile there are four American Corners in operation. These are located at the University of Tarapacá in Arica, the Diego Portales University in Santiago, the Austral University in Valdivia and the University of Magallanes in Punta Arenas. An American Corner at the University of Magallanes will open its doors soon.
We have also partners with the University of Talca in Santiago to create an American Corner that focuses on exclusively on science - The American Academy of Science and Technology (AAST).
Where can I found information about these corners?
